Nine times out of ten, they “met” their soldier on a social networking site, such as Facebook, or an online dating site.

********** UPDATE: Two women were prosecuted for receiving over one million dollars from 374 people in these scams! Since starting the website in 2004, I have received many emails from people who believe they are dating a soldier when, in most cases, they actually are not.

I received an email stating that personal information had been changed - when I attempted to log in, the password had also been changed and all attempts to reset blocked!! HOWEVER, It did NOT show on my account cancelled, and I was able to log in with my new handle etc. When I left a while ago I was sent emails over email I finally had to block their site because it would not stop. I honestly believe it is company doing this because they're trying to sent flirts, emails, etc to your account. I also signed up for promotion and should be charge next month same price. Within the first 2 weeks my notifications indicated I had over 130 messages and even more flirts. I went ahead and subscribed for 1 month with automatic renewal.

The Help line is NOT 24 hours so someone had access to my information for over 12 hours... I became a member of Our and the very first guy that contacted me was a scam! Once I stopped communicating he had someone else contact me via hangouts and email and told me he was in a car accident and was going to die if I did not send 00. Took awhile, but they finally stopped communicating. 3 separate times I wrote on my profile that I could not respond to my messages because I was not a paid member and that I would consider it in the near future. The number of interests declined dramatically, and my matches were not within the ages and ethnicity I selected.

However, they don’t talk about it and they certainly don’t tell you they are on a “top secret mission”. He says he is not allowed to talk about what he does, however, he has cleared it with his CO that he can tell you enough to make you believe he is who he says. If he truly is not allowed to share any details about his job, his CO doesn’t even allow him to talk about it with family, much less someone he met on the internet.

On the dating sites, they tell you to be honest and say thank you, I do not think we are a match. You get called bad names, put-downs about your photos, etc. When I asked to speak with someone from USA couldn't be done. I have been on this site for couple of years now with minor success.

Then the supposed CO sends back a letter asking for money to connect a phone line or some other complete lie. He says one of the following…parents died, his wife died in his arms, his wife was killed in a car accident along with all of his children, his children are orphaned and living in some remote location, or he was orphaned……all LIES. And I mean if this was for real and that kind of luck follows him, why do you want to be with him? He says he doesn’t have a mailing address because either he is in a classified unit or his position changes so often.

Even in special operations, he’ll have an APO address.

It's not just guns and drugs that are up for sale on deep web sites.

Vendors also list guides on how to commit other illegal activities.

If you don’t want to read the rest of this article, there is one surefire way to know if your soldier is fake: If a soldier you’re “dating” online asks you for money for ANY reason, it’s a scam. What he really means is she’s going to be his next victim. He is in a special operations unit and therefore cannot share any information with you.
